Our Story

Simon's construction career started early on in the USSR where he worked as an electrical engineer on big commercial developments. When the opportunity arose, Simon moved his family to the United States the land of opportunity where he built a career in Information Technology and Computer Engineering.

During his long career, Simon had built and remodeled several homes and helped friends and family with their remodels. He was always very hands-on with much of the work and never shied away from the bigger projects. He quickly gained a reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and unique design.

Although no formal training in construction, Simons son Max was always a DIYer and very hands-on, too, whether it was working on cars or home improvement projects. Max's passion really grew when he and his wife decided to buy a fixer-upper and do a top-to-bottom renovation. Max quickly gained a reputation for his vision and his thoughtful and functional design.

After retiring, Simon decided to pursue a longtime passion of his and build custom homes. Max joined in on the fun and Simax Homes was born. The father and son company has completed many projects over the years many single-family homes and even a unique carriage house in the heart of the Highlands and decided to showcase their work at the 2019 Homearama show. Their house, The Belgian Cottage a beautiful European take on a transitional home really stood out, got a lot of attention from the crowd, and set a vision for the future of the company.
